LESSONS FROM iCON- Steve Jobs

What will you do when you are kicked with much public humiliation out of the multi-billion dollar company that you yourself created? What will you do when you are kicked by the man you yourself recruited?

One might either go into exile or turn psychopath or go into depression or end his life. Well there was a man who experienced them but chose another path ultimately .Instead of opting for above consequences he went on to create another milestone company and earned so much respect that will take years to fade away from our memories. He is iCEO of Apple-Steve Jobs.

This man not only faced some harsh experiences but also achieved mindboggling success. I would summarize his life in three short stories and tell lessons for generations to learn from.

Steve dropped from the college 6 months after joining and yet stayed as drop in for 18 months after that. Why? Was he after any girl? Was he an addict? Nah, he just wanted to attend the classes that interested him only. One of them was of CALLIGRAPHY. His choice was purely driven by his interest without any sightings of future. It was only after 10 years he realized its importance and is credited for introducing beautiful typography styles in personal computers. So what’s the big deal for us in it?? Well you can’t look into future. So you have to trust that your present will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something — your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach will never let you down.
Steve was fired from his company by John Scully at the age of 30. For him the focus of his adult life was gone and his life was devastated. He even thought about running away from the Silicon Valley. But something slowly began to dawn on him — he still loved what he did. The turn of events at Apple had not changed that one bit. He had been rejected, but he was still in love. And so he decided to start over and which he later publicly told that firing from Apple was best thing happened to him. How? Why? He met his lady love and created Pixar (the most successful animated studio on the planet) and Next which later was reason for Apple’s renaissance when he returned to Apple.

I’m pretty sure none of this would have happened if he hadn’t been fired from Apple. It awful tasted medicine, but I guess the patient needed it. Don’t lose faith. You’ve got to find what you love. And that is as true for your work as it is for your lovers. Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better
and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don’t settle.

Now when you many of the readers might be bored to death after reading this marathon article, I have one more story left for you. Few years back Steve suffered from a Pancreatic Cancer. He realized he is left with so much less time to do so much .He continued with his work and worked even harder and introduced some mindboggling inventions to humanity
through his company. Later it was found to be a rare curable cancer and so he was out of danger. Here is a small analogy that I have deduced from this–

Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.

  2. Thanks for commenting. Well I don't consider it as a crime for three reasons: 1)I already said on the top of my blog that stories are taken from internet and not mine. 2) On individual stories I have indicated the exact source from where the story is being taken. 3) I am not making any money out of it. It is purely a hobby and just collecting the stuff

Infact I think I am promoting the author stuff without taking any credit or any monetary benefit.
